Blanka Vlašić European Sportswomen of the Year 2009.

Zagreb (January 14, 2010) - Croatian best athlete Blanka Vlašić, was selected for Best European sportswoman in the traditional 27th choice of sports journalists of the European Union (UEPS). Top athletes were chosen by the European national associations of European sports journalists and first time European news agencies, a double world high jump champion Blanka Vlašić was celebrated with a total of 30 points. Second place went to an Italian swimmer Federica Pellegrini with 22 points, and the third is last year's champion, Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva (20).
In men's competition the Swiss tennis player Roger Federer was selected for the Best European Sportman with 54 points. Second place went to world champion in Formula 1 Britain's Jenson Button with 18 points, and the third is a Norwegian biathlon Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (13).

Turin (March 8, 2009) - Blanka Vlašić won 5th place with 192 cm in high jump on European Indoor Championships held in Turin. Gold medal won Ariane Friedrich (GER) with 201 cm, silver medal won Ruth Beitia (ESP) with 199 and bronze medal won Viktoriya Klyugina (RUS) with 196 cm.
Jurica Grabušić won 15th place in semifinal 60 m hurdles with 7,88 (in first round 7,81), and Nedžad Mulabegović won 15th place in shot put qualifications with 18,96 m. Results ...

Los Realejos (March 15, 2009) - First day of the European Cup Winter Throwing two of croatian throwers won bronze medals. Shot puter Nedžad Mulabegović won third place with his season best, 19,69 m. First place won Lajos Kürthy (HUN) with 20,06 and second was Manuel Martinez (ESP) with 20,00 m.
In B group of womens discus throw, Vera Begić won first place with her season best, 59.27 m, which was given third place overall. Better than she were Nicoleta Grasu (ROU) with 62,61 m and Zaneta Glanc (POL) with 60,45 m.
In U23 javelin throw competition Stipe Žunić won 9th place with 67,37 m, and in U23 shot put competition Nikola Kišanić won 10th place 17,09 m. Results ...

 
Vlašić, Grabušić and Mulabegović for Turin

Zagreb (March 1. 2009) - European Indoor ChampionshipIn will be held in Turin from 6th until 8th March and there will compete three croatian athletes.
In the women's high jump will compete one of the main favorites for the gold Blanka Vlašić with season best 205 cm. Other two athletes are Jurica Grabušić on 60 m hurdles (SB 7,78) and Nedžad Mulabegović in Shot put (SB 19,64 m).
